The Department of Chemistry activities at the Institute of Life Sciences (ILS) spans basic and applied research, and we are partners in collaboration with other disciplines within ILS, academic and industrial partners across the globe. With excellent facilities and services combined with a diverse expertise, Chemistry at ILS has much to offer our partners. Collaborators in academic, industry and in other research organizations enjoy working with us on mutually beneficial projects. Chemistry Department has a dynamic research team and has a proven track record in diverse fields of chemistry. Our current research activities include the development of new methodologies in heterocyclic chemistry and the synthesis of natural product-inspired complex compounds to evaluate their potential in several pharmacological studies. Our goal is to establish a leading organic and medicinal chemistry research centre to benefit science and society in coming years.
